Coleman

Barbara Louise Dwight Moran, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated nurse, peacefully passed away on June 20, 2025, in Brownwood, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 8, 1946, in McLean, Texas to Clyde Otis Dwight and Louise Nix Dwight, Barbara's life was a testament to compassion, service, and unyielding love.

Barbara devoted her professional life to nursing, working tirelessly at various nursing homes and hospitals including Holiday Hill Nursing Home, Coleman County Medical Center, Leisure Lodge (now Coleman Healthcare), North Runnels Hospital, C.A.R.E., Inc., Bangs Nursing Home, Ranger Park Nursing Home, and Brownwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her commitment to the well-being of others was evident in her every action—a true reflection of her caring personality that resonated with family, coworkers, friends, and the many patients she cared for throughout her career.

Education was always important to Barbara, and she began her academic journey in McLean, graduating from Pampa High School in 1964. After graduation, Barbara went to school in St. Louis, Missouri an received her license to be a Medical Technologist. She later earned her license to be a phlebotomist at West Texas A&M University in Canyon and continued her education later in life by attending Cisco Junior College where she graduated in with an Associate Degree in Nursing and became Registered Nurse at the age of 50! Her pursuit of knowledge culminated in 1997 when she graduated from Angelo State University in San Angelo with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Barbara was a beloved member of her community and church, where she was involved with the Methodist church. She found joy in reading, cooking, and indulging her love for film, often spending weekends watching two or three movies in a single day. However, nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored her deeply.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jennifer Henry and husband, John, Jr., of Brownwood; Joel Moran of Eastland; Jason Moran and wife, Elizabeth, of Coleman; Jarrod Moran and fiancée, Christina, of Abilene; and Jamie Moran of Coleman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Tara Longoria, John Henry, VI, Joseph Henry, Samantha Henry, Victoria Henry, Tiffany Chapman, Tyler Nevels, Ashley Nevels, Alicia DeAnda, Juan Torres, Megan Moran, Emily Moran, Sarah Moran, James Sebolt, Haley Sebolt, Alyssa Sebolt, Heather Herrera, Jonathan Carrillo, and Ryder Dwight, along with 22 great-grandchildren. Being an only child, Barbara formed close bonds with her cousins, Susie Reed, Robbie Dwight, and Ruthie Dwight, who became her surrogate siblings.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Dr. Paul Moran; her parents, Clyde and Louise Dwight; and her children, Ronnie Nevels and Michelle Moran. She also mourned the loss of her aunts and uncles, David and Bobbie Dwight, Bob and Nancy Dwight, Elmer Nix, Raymond and Dorothy Nix, along with cousins, Skip Dwight and Delores Dwight, who held a special place in her heart.

Whatever trials Barbara faced in life, she persevered with true grit and tenacity. She never let anything stand in her way of accomplishing her goals. Barbara’s legacy of kindness, care, and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. Her unwavering spirit and nurturing embrace will be deeply missed.
