B. J. Deal

B.J. Deal, 87, of Coleman, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Graveside funeral service with Military Honors will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Brown Ranch Cemetery with Richard Hetzel officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.

He was born Billy Jack Deal on November 21, 1925 in Whon, a son of William Forrest Deal and Nettie Louise Richardson Deal. He grew up in Santa Anna and graduated from Santa Anna High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. On May 29, 1947, he married Martha Mae Dalton. She preceded him in death on August 5, 2006. B.J. worked for Mrs. Bairds Bakery, having delivery routes in Bangs, Coleman and Merkel. After retiring, B.J. started farming. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include on daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Don Taylor of LaPine, Alabama; one sister, Doris Jane Childers of Elgin; two grandchildren, Kevin Taylor of Daphnie, Alabama, NeOma Gaffard of LaPine, Alabama; four great grandchildren Brandon Taylor, Jessica Taylor, Elizabeth Ruckell, Harrison Ruckell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Deal, two brothers, W.F. Deal, Jr. and Tommy Deal.
