Annie Mae Brimer

Annie Mae Brimer, age 99, of Coleman, died Friday, June 16, 2017 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Reverend John Stanislaw, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Valera Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Annie Mae Fletcher on May 23, 1918 in Millersview, TX to Sloan Fletcher and Kitty Collier Fletcher. Annie Mae married J.C. Brimer on September 6, 1936 in Millersview and they celebrated 61 years of marriage. She lived in Coleman County most of her life. Annie Mae worked in various jobs until she became the activity director at the Ranger Park Inn Nursing Home in Santa Anna. After retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, tole painting, and quilting with the ladies at the Valera Quilting Club. Annie Mae received many awards from the San Angelo County Fair for some of her handwork. She always looked forward to visiting with her grandchildren and later on, her great-grandchildren. She received the 60 year award for playing the piano for the Valera Baptist Church, and also played for a number of years for the Voss Baptist Church.

After J.C. died on January 11, 1997, Annie Mae made her home at the High Rise Apartments in Coleman. There, she played for singing occasions and stayed busy with arts and crafts.

Annie Mae is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Brimer; two brothers, Charles Fletcher and Albert Fletcher; three sisters, Mary Ward, Dolly Scott, and Winnie Dais; and a special friend, Louis Pittard.

She is survived by two sons, Wallace Brimer and wife Chris of Abilene, and Bill Brimer and wife Carole of Granbury; one daughter, Glenda Bowman and husband Earl of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Allan Brimer, Brett Brimer, Barry Brimer, Earl Bowman IV, and Randye Sullivan; four great-grandchildren, Edie Brimer, Loralyn Brimer, Evelyn Brimer, Cheyenne Bowman, and Jacob Sullivan; one sister, Merle Spruill of Odessa; and special friends, Gary Pittard and Nancy Smith.

A time of visitation with family and friends will be on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.
