Ann H. Short, born on July 12, 1944, in Lamesa, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, at her residence in Lohn, Texas, surrounded by her beloved family.
A dedicated schoolteacher for many years, Ann touched the lives of many during her career at Lohn ISD. Her passion for education was evident in the way she cared for her students, treating them with the same love and affection as if they were her own children. Ann's commitment to shaping young minds was accompanied by a nurturing spirit that left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of being her student.
Raised in Midland, Ann graduated from Midland High School before furthering her education at Howard Payne University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work. Throughout her life, she exemplified the values of love and generosity, always putting her family, neighbors, and students first.
On March 1, 1962, Ann married Winford "Wimp" Short in Mexico, and together they created a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. They celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage, forging a bond that was a testament to their dedication to each other and their family. As proud members of Lohn Baptist Church, Ann and Winford fostered a sense of community and service that touched many lives.
Ann is survived by her four sons: David Short and wife Kelli, Michael Short and wife Jennifer, Alan Short and wife Kim, and Chris Short and wife Latricia. She cherished her role as a mother and took immense joy in her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed to know her unwavering love.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel William Anderson and Jeraldine Russell Anderson, her dear husband, Winford "Wimp" Short, and her brother David Travis Moore. Her legacy of love and compassion will forever resonate within the hearts of her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
At Ann’s request, no formal service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be given in memory of Ann to the Lohn Volunteer Fire Department at P.O. Box 248, Lohn, Texas 76852.
