Johnny Zane Jamison

January 29, 1936 — September 7, 2023

Leaday

Johnny Zane Jamison, age 87, of Leaday, Texas passed from this life to be with The Lord on September 7, 2023.  He was born January 29, 1936, in Leaday, Texas to the late Manton Jamison and Julia Skelton Jamison.  Johnny was raised in Leaday and graduated from Mozelle High School in 1954.  Following graduation, he proudly served our nation for four years in the army.  He was a lifetime member of Leaday Baptist Church.  Johnny married Norrene Bouldin on July 5, 1964, and they celebrated 59 cherished years together.

Johnny was a dedicated rancher.  He had a passion for raising some of the finest registered Rambouillet sheep around, as well as raising cattle and goats.  He also served on the Soil Conservation Service board for over 45 years.

Anyone that knew Johnny knew that he loved to tell a good story.  He loved to entertain, and he loved to make people laugh.  More than anything on this earth though, Johnny loved his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, and Paw Paw.  His smile would light the room any time any of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren would come to visit.  He gave the BEST hugs.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Johnny is survived by his wife Norrene; daughter Tricia Stahl and husband Terry of Brownwood, daughter Cindy Stephenson and husband Mike of Gouldbusk, son Matt Jamison and wife Stephanie of Millersview; grandchildren Joe Reese Row and wife Tiffani, Joe Joe Birdwell, Mindy Sikes and husband Frank, Lexie Schumann and husband Riley, Nikki Copley and husband Will, Jessica Welch and husband Billy, Zane Jamison and Jenna Jamison; great-grandchildren Dylan, Dani and Dawson Williams, Landyn and Presley Schumann, Liam and Lucy Copley, and Lorelai Row; his sister Betty Jamison Scarborough and sister in law Virginia Jamison, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Buck Jamison, Dick Jamison, Martha Hafner, Billie Ruth McCorkle, Jinks Jamison, and Oscar Jamison.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Hill Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Haynes, pastor at Leaday Baptist Church, officiating.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.
